Friday Night Videos - 3/21/09

First things first, Weekly Column Is Here.

This week's videos will be all about...as I was contemplating what I thought the theme should be this week, I turned to YouTube for inspiration. I searched high and low for Sly Fox's, "Let's Go All The Way". I advise against this, because apparently, the tools over at Insane Clown Posse-land decided to do a cover of the song. Let one thing be clear, Insane Clown Posse is not geek friendly. I hate their music with the fire of a thousand suns. There, I've gotten that out of the way. Moving along...

I had to look for something concentrated after being exposed to all the make-upped rapping that I just saw. So it's the extended video for Cindy Lauper's "Goonies" theme for you!

This next one's is genuinely one of my all-time favorites, and fits with the songs from 80's movies theme I accidentally started.

And here's one that not too many people know about, all chalk full of Chevy Chase/Dan Aykroyd goodness.

My sole regret related to my wedding was that I didn't have this version of ZZ Top's "Double Back" played at the reception, complete with impromptu hoe-down. (I still think that ZZ Top got their whole beard-thing from the Marx Brothers' "A Night At The Opera".) And yes, I know...technically this last clip isn't from an 80's movie. But it was close enough.

May your weekend be as awesome as a Harold Faltermeyer score. God speed.

  1. That Spies Like Us video is very weird. It reminds me of those terrible local furniture commercials (ala Conan) in which the actual store owners demand to be in the ad and therefore is really bad. Aykroyd, just because you are the star of the film doesn't mean you should also be in the music video. Ahhh, the 80's.
